North Fork Stanislaus :
Fishing as been great out here in the western sierra's. The weather has been very hot these last couple of days, but the fish are still biting. The best time to fish the river is in the early morning. What flies should you use. May flies and Caddis Larva. Large streamers are also very effective. For the lakes. The Good spots are Lake Alpine and Whitepines lake.
East Walker:
The Water flow has dropped again, so get ready for some great fishing. Big patterns are working very well, streamer set ups and mice patterns are getting those bigger fish right now.
Hot CREEK:
Hoppers with a dropper fly is your best bet right now. The weeds are an issue so its a great place to work on your casting skills.
Upper Owens:
The Upper owens is fishing very well. Nymphing those deep cuts and swinging your flies under the banks is producing lots of large fish. Dead drifting streamers and have a trailing fly behind is the way to go.
East Carson:
The flow is low right now, but its making it easy to find the fish in those nice deep holes. I talked to some locals this week and the fishing has been awsome.
Rush Creek:
Dry flies are the way to go right now. Basic patterns. Nymph's to use copper johns and San Juan worms, Pheasant tails.
Rock Creek:
Everyone is having fun at Rock Creek. Dry fly action is great. Adams, stimulators, small elk hair caddis. Nymphs, pheasant tails, copper johns, micro mayfly.
Crowley lake:
Crowley lake has been on fire these last couple of weeks. If your tubing stripping streamers is the way to go.
